What is a premiere video?
Premiere videos were pre-recorded activities that were released throughout the weekend of April 17th and 18th, 2021. All of these videos now show up on the appropriate website page for their applicable age group.
How long will the videos be available to watch?
Good news, we don’t plan on taking them down! They will forever be stored on our website and YouTube channel (Engie Does STEM)
Materials
What if i don’t have an Engineering Notebook?
Look no further, we have an entire page dedicated to Engineering Notebooks right here! Anyone can create their own Engineering Notebook and use it how they see fit.
do i need to purchase any materials in order to be able to participate in the activities?
Our intent is to use common household materials, but some may need to be purchased - hopefully at a low cost. Feel free to visit the Shopping Lists page for a list of all the materials needed for your applicable age group of videos, the Templates page for any print-offs you may need prior, or just jump right into a video and make a fun game out of who can find all the materials the fastest around the house!
I can’t seem to find a material needed for one of your videos.
Oh no! While we tried our best to make all activities use either common household materials or materials that could be purchased on a rather small budget, sometimes we don’t quite make it. Let us know (email expo@wichitaswe.org) if you don’t know where to purchase an item and we can gladly help point you in the right direction!
Other
I’m not super familiar with STEM and am worried I won’t be able to lead my child well enough during the video.
Our videos do a great job of walking the child (and adult) through the activity and the lesson. So you can learn with your kiddo! Nothing will make them happier than having you sit down with them and learn a STEM lesson together. And a little googling afterwards to learn more or answer questions is always a fun bonus. :)
If you have any questions that you want to contact us directly with, please email expo@wichitaswe.org. We’d be happy to walk you both through an activity, help if you get stuck anywhere, or if you have any other questions.
Okay, this was really fun, but how else can I get involved in STEM?
We encourage you to check out SWENext (we have a whole page dedicated to the information right here on our website!). SWENext is a way for girls to become a part of the SWE community as a student through the age of 18. They have access to programs, mentors, and resources designed to develop leadership skills and self-confidence. Although SWENext focuses on girls, all students are encouraged to get involved. And when you sign up, be sure to use ICTSWE as your Event Code!
I want more of your awesome content!
We are so happy to hear that! Make sure to check out our YouTube channel for more videos like these and check out our socials below as well! Thank you so much for your support!
Will you be at Century II next year?
We plan on it! Mark your calendars now for Saturday, April 9th, 2022 at Century II!
