Making Your Own Engineering Notebook
There are no rules about an engineering notebook.
It can be any notebook- hardcover or homemade. It can be spiral bound or half used. It can be large or small.
All that matters is that you decide its the notebook for your engineering mind.
Once you find your notebook, you will want to label the front cover.
Maybe you will simply call it "notes" or maybe one more word like " field notes" .
Maybe you want it to be personal and put your name in the title: " Sam's notebook".
Or maybe your notebook will be extra with a title like "the study of secrets: both large and small, with an excerpt from my dog: bear, volume 1”.
And, here's a tip- between you and me, skip the first page.
Every engineer knows that organization is a tricky step at any age.
Here, you can write a line for each of the different things you write about.
Don’t forget the corresponding page number. It’ll be your working title of contents.
You can note new discoveries and equations.
You can note the things you will want to learn more about.
You can write lists, and doodle, you can write big or small. You can write diagonal or in a secret code.
You can write with large margins for notes on notes.
You can even scratch things out when they are no longer important.
You can write with pencil or pen or even neon markers.
But to be an engineer you will make lots of notes and make it messy.
